Our vision is to empower every student to master the challenges of today and shape the world of tomorrow:
“To contribute to an education that empowers every student to master the challenges of today and shape the world of tomorrow”
Different national/regional curricula and/or standards stipulate what students are expected to learn at different levels. The KED Program aims to give students the necessary competence to live and work in an unpredictable and ever-changing world. This competence includes skills, abilities, insight and knowledge – beyond the subject syllabus – that prepare every student to master the challenges of today and, as global citizens, shape the world of tomorrow.
The KED Program is designed to accommodate every student at each point in their knowledge development, challenge them to stretch their boundaries and construct their individual platform for continued learning and personal development beyond school. By personal development we mean the lifelong process through which an individual’s potential manifests itself. At the heart of this lies the development of an inner ethical compass that forms the basis for active and conscious choices. It also means assuming responsibility for one’s own life, establishing relevant and challenging goals and having sufficient perseverance/resilience and self-discipline to reach these goals.
The KED Values should be used as a guideline to support how we act, lead and communicate within the KED Network. The KED Values are developed in line with our vision and idea of personalized learning with each student and their individual goals always at the center.
The KED Values need to be shared and discussed on a national level. They can also be expressed as actions with focus on the leadership and teacher roles.
The KED Values can inspire additional value statements to be used locally by various operators of the KED Program, to support expectations, relations and communication regarding management, teachers and other staff. Our shared KED Values thus function as the lasting foundation for leadership on all levels throughout the KED Network:
We believe that all people are different
All people are different and learn in different ways and at different rates. It is our task to meet this challenge. Regardless of his or her ability, each student has the right to a personal challenge every day.
We have high expectations
With the support of teachers who are well qualified, stimulating and have high expectations, each student will, through their own hard work, perseverance and ambition stretch their boundaries and learn more than they thought possible. We highlight good performance as an example to be followed and encourage our students to set challenging goals for which there are clear requirements.
We educate for life
We prepare students to live and work in the modern, global society with its ever-changing challenges and difficult choices. ‘Education for life’ gives students the ability to see context and patterns, understand and interpret events, take decisions and make choices. It is a driving force for a continual deepening and broadening of their knowledge, skills and understanding.
We believe that life is what you make it
We give each student a foundation for personal development where self-discipline, self-knowledge, sense of responsibility and confidence in one’s own ability provide the basis for a constructive attitude, the essence of which is that “life is what I make it”.
